About parlor 53 - ST. Helena
Chartered in 1884, Parlor 53 has served St. Helena and the surrounding Napa Valley for 141 years. Our members have been faithful stewards of local history and dedicated servants of our community through changing times and generations.
Our Historic Hall
The Native Sons Hall, now over 110 years old, stands as one of St. Helena's most cherished landmarks. This building has been more than just a meeting place—it has been the heart of community life. Within these walls, countless weddings and celebrations have been held, civic meetings conducted, fundraisers hosted, and neighbors gathered. From crab feeds to Bingo nights, basketball games to memorial services, the Hall has witnessed the full spectrum of community life.
Maintaining a building of this age requires constant vigilance and care. Through the dedication of members like Phil Murphy—who answered calls day and night for over forty years to address everything from plumbing emergencies to electrical issues—the Hall remains safe, welcoming, and functional. This commitment to stewardship ensures that the Hall continues to serve as an accessible gathering place, with rental fees kept reasonable so community groups can meet their goals and serve the public.

A Legacy of ServiceThe story of Parlor 53 is written in the countless acts of service performed by our members over 141 years. It is reflected in the well-maintained Hall that serves our community, the scholarships that help young people build their futures, and the preservation efforts that honor those who came before us. Our members understand that tradition is not passive—it requires active dedication, quiet leadership, and a genuine care for both place and people.
This legacy continues today through every member who tends to the Hall, contributes to our charitable efforts, and gathers in fellowship. Together, we ensure that the doors of Parlor 53 remain open for generations to come.
